1. Sell Old Electronics

Many people have old electronics lying around the house such as phones, computer monitors, and televisions. When you tuck them away in the closet, they’re not doing anything except taking up space. Instead, sell them on websites like Craigslist or even take them to a local pawn shop and see what you can get.

2. Organize a Garage Sale

Garage sales are fantastic for getting rid of all the knick-knacks and other items that you don’t want or need anymore. Even if you only sell your items for a quarter or two, this can really start to add up. To get more attention, you may even be able to combine with a group of neighbors.

3. Rent a Booth for Consignment

Collecting clothes is inevitable, and they can take up major closet space. If you haven’t worn an item in the last year, consider selling it at a consignment shop. Most of these shops allow you to rent a booth for a month or two so you can sell your items hassle-free.

4. Clear Out Old Books

If your bookcase is overflowing, you can sell some of the older books to get extra cash (and free up space). Some bookstores will purchase books from you, but the best way to sell books is through online stores like Amazon.

5. Make a Profit on Vintage Antiques

Do you have old antiques that are just collecting dust in your closet? You can sell these types of items online and make a decent amount of money. Some antiques will even go for hundreds of dollars. Most items that are pre-1970 will give you a nice profit.

6. Pawn Old Jewelry

If you’re strapped for cash, selling your old jewelry can also give you a nice amount of money in your pocket. Items made of platinum or gold are worth the most, but you can still sell silver in some pawn shops or jewelry stores as well.

7. Donate to Charity

Donating to charity may not be the first thing you think of when it comes to making money during spring cleaning. However, if you donate over a certain amount, then you can receive tax breaks. In most situations, the amount is dependent on how much you make in a year, but most tax services are more than happy to determine the amount for you.

8. Swap Sports Gear

If you used to play baseball, but you haven’t picked up your bat or glove in years, you can trade in the old equipment to get something new. Websites like SwapMeSports allow you to buy, sell, and trade all kinds of sports gear that you’re not using anymore.

9. Toss Tired Media

Today, most of us watch TV and listen to music without the need of a disc, but we still have old CDs and DVDs lying around and gathering dust. If you never use them anymore, they could easily earn you cash online through websites such as Amazon or SecondSpin.

10. Retire Outdated Gaming Systems

When was the last time you played your N64 or Game Boy? Despite their age, these systems are still going for quite a bit of money online. A Game Boy Advance SP can sell for around $40, which is almost half of what it originally sold for on its release. Sell old systems on Amazon and you’ll be surprised how much you’ll get.
