Celebrities hold a special place in our hearts. For some odd reason, we love to follow their lives. There are those we want to succeed and be happy. These celebs are our own personal “America’s Sweetheart.” Every time we read a magazine, we want to see something good, don’t we? Why can’t Jennifer Aniston find that special someone?!
Amy Schumer is not one to avoid controversial subjects and blue humor, both of which make her a prime target for haters. In 2016, several comedians ramped up the hate with accusations that Schumer had stolen multiple jokes from them.
It seems odd that Bieber has been able to foster such a huge following with young people in spite of all his scandals, but then again, people still buy Chris Brown’s albums. Whether he’s singing racist versions of his own songs or trying to prove that he’s a tough guy, he really just comes off as douchey. And who could forget that deposition video?
No one embodies the “famous for being famous” celebrity stereotype more than Kim Kardashian. And her unearned prestige and privilege seems to rub some people the wrong way. We can’t say we blame them!
At this point, does Adam Sandler even act in movies? Each year, a cringy, 90-minute eyesore makes its way into theaters with his name plastered on it, but it always seems like an excuse for Sandler and his friends to take a paid vacation to exotic places. At least the public is starting to catch on – his recent string of poor box office performance has caused multiple studios to drop him.
Known for her awkwardly stoic acting, Kristen Stewart rubs many people the wrong way. As she fumbles her way through interviews or finds her way into messy love triangles (those images of K. Stew cheating on Robert Pattinson with her director — who was married and had several children, mind you — are forever burned into our minds), Stewart pushes away even the most loyal Twilight fans. Many hate her simply for her involvement in the aforementioned series.
Whether he’s attacking a member of the paparazzi or spewing anti-Semitic comments, Mel Gibson isn’t really painting a flattering portrait of himself. Gibson became famous for playing characters who were on the verge of sanity, and we quickly realized that it wasn’t an act. The way he handles himself after his controversies only makes things worse.
Lena Dunham is a celeb who isn’t afraid to speak her mind–which has led to several foot-in-mouth moments for the millennial funnywoman. From saying she regretted never having had an abortion to threatening to move to Canada if Donald Trump was elected president, Dunham has provided plenty of fodder for her naysayers.
An actor who will apparently accept any script that finds its way onto his desk, Nicolas Cage is known for his crazy antics both on and off the screen, as well as his hammy overacting. What makes matters worse is how much potential he displayed in early roles, such as Raising Arizona. Maybe he should have quit while he was ahead.
If history has taught us anything, it’s that being a child star causes some serious damage later in life. In trying to shed the image she made on Disney Channel, Miley Cyrus has taken to sticking her tongue out every chance she gets. Her sexualized antics are often seen as a cry for attention and her public image is rarely viewed as positive, although she created her own charity and helps homeless LGBT youth.
As he continues to churn out duds like Paul Blart: Mall Cop and The Zookeeper, it’s increasingly clear that Kevin James has absolutely no limit as what he will do to try and elicit a cheap laugh. Most of his humor is derived from fart gags and fat jokes, ensuring that his target demographic will continue to be preteen boys.
Judging from some of his self-destructive lifestyle choices, it’s clear that no one hates Charlie Sheen more than Charlie Sheen. But that hasn’t stopped others from piling on more hate for this past-his-prime Hollywood libertine!
Even before Trump felt the need to run for president, we knew that he was a despicable human being. He’s obnoxiously arrogant, he’s made offensive comments about pretty much any group of people he doesn’t consider himself to be a part of, and he never really sees why any of his actions are troublesome. Your guess is as mine as to what qualifies him for any sort of political office. (Also, that spray tan.)
The sweet and innocent persona Taylor Swift has created is challenged (to say the very least), as she continues to badmouth her former love interests in her music. On top of this, her face seems to be everywhere you look. Even if you’re a fan of Swift, you’re sure to get tired of how often you’re exposed to her.
Although we’re all curious to see what ridiculous stunt he will pull next, we know that anytime we see Shia LaBeouf’s name in the news, it won’t be for anything productive. Like many celebrities, he seems to require attention, and it doesn’t matter what it’s for. Rather than a beloved actor, he has become a lunatic that we love to watch from a safe distance.
It’s not that Kanye West isn’t an insanely talented musician–he most definitely is. Rather, it’s Kanye’s inflated ego and sense of superiority that most people don’t appreciate. If he’d spend more time in the recording studio and less time with the never ending self-promotion, he could be a beloved celebrity yet!
